Position

Heavy Duty Equipment – Shop Mechanic (Fleet Maintenance)

Location:

Multiple locations across Colorado.

Rate: $30 – $34 per hour depending on experience.

• Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems following specifications and manuals.
• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to diagnose causes of malfunctions.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Communicate timely and effectively with shop leadership about major problems.
• Operate mobile equipment including service truck to retrieve down‑truck assets.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance and inspection on service vehicle (fueling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, checking and adding fluids).
• Service pumps/motors as needed.
• Perform welding, repair, and fabrication.
• Purchase parts for repairs as needed.
• Make service calls at other BURNCO plants or job sites as needed.
• Assist in training co‑workers as needed.
• Perform general clean‑up of work area.
• Follow all BURNCO policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Proper preventive maintenance.
• Timely response to maintenance service requests.

• Good working knowledge of mechanics related to truck and general maintenance.
• Ability to use power tools, welders, cutting torches/chains and various safety devices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper mechanic/maintenance procedures such as lockout/tag‑out and special work permits.
• Proficiency with computer and program systems; experience with Allison transmissions, Davie 4 and ESA software a plus.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to pass MVR (clean driving record).
• Commercial driver’s license a plus.
• Provide own personal tools up to ¾.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

• High school diploma preferred.
• 3-5 years of heavy‑duty truck mechanic experience required.
• Experience with concrete mixers preferred.

• May be required to travel to various company facilities to perform maintenance activities.

The physical demands of this job include:

• Regularly working outside, exposed to various weather conditions including hot/cold temperatures and rain/snow.
• Constant use of eye/hand coordination, near vision, and hearing.
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling; manual dexterity, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, far vision, and color discernment.
• Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smokes, gases, fumes and aggregate materials.
• Required PPE includes safety shoes above ankles, safety vests, safety glasses, ear plugs, and hard hats; additional PPE may be required for special jobs such as welding, repairing, etc.
