About The Team

Facilities Management is committed to providing a safe, reliable, and efficient environment for our campus community. Current challenges include maintaining and upgrading aging buildings and piping infrastructure, providing opportunities to work on a wide variety of plumbing systems and projects.

Position Summary

This position performs preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and installation of plumbing and steam piping systems across campus facilities. The role requires sound technical knowledge, strong problem‑solving abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Preventative Maintenance, Repair & Installation (90%)
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations on plumbing and steam piping systems.
  • Diagnose and repair plumbing leaks, drips, clogs, and malfunctioning fixtures.
  • Assist with and support maintenance and installation projects involving plumbing and steam systems.
  • Inspect equipment and investigate unusual operating conditions including excessive water temperatures, leaking components, worn equipment, unusual noises or odors.
  • Determine appropriate repair methods and replacement solutions.
  • Collect equipment and parts information needed for maintenance and repairs.
  • Guide and assist Pipe/Mechanical Trade I personnel during repairs and installations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building, mechanical, plumbing, and safety codes.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, labor activities, and completed work orders.
  • Utilize computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel to document maintenance activities.
Project Support & Documentation (10%)
  • Prepare material lists and assist with planning upcoming projects.
  • Complete work orders, test reports, and purchase requests.
  • Review construction drawings and system modifications for compliance with campus standards and applicable codes.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and campus stakeholders.
  • Compare installed systems to drawings and specifications and document discrepancies when identified.
