What You ll Do


Maintain Critical Building HVAC Systems (80%)

You will be responsible for maintaining the reliable operation of a wide variety of commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including:
  • Centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers
  • Cooling towers
  • Heating and cooling pumps
  • Air handling units and associated components
  • Evaporative cooling systems
  • Low-pressure hot water boilers
  • Air compressors and refrigerated air dryers
  • HVAC controls and mechanical systems


Key Responsibilities Include

  • Performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment adjustments
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls-related issues
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Reading wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
  • Documenting work orders, preventative maintenance activities, labor, and repair records
  • Utilizing Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word for work tracking and reporting
Support Laboratory Ventilation & Life Safety Systems (10%)

  • Maintain and troubleshoot variable air volume (VAV) laboratory fume hood systems
  • Measure and verify laboratory airflow and pressurization requirements
  • Repair or replace fume hood air valves and control devices
  • Inspect, test, and maintain HVAC-related fire and smoke dampers and actuators
  • Ensure systems operate safely and in accordance with applicable codes and standards
Complete HVAC Modifications & Improvements (5%)

  • Perform minor ductwork and piping additions or modifications
  • Evaluate load impacts to existing systems
  • Support ventilation upgrades and equipment connections
  • Interpret mechanical drawings to determine appropriate installation methods
Additional Responsibilities (5%)

  • Participate as a member of the asbestos abatement team if selected
  • Perform other duties as assigned
