Help Build and Maintain One of Colorado's Premier Campuses

Colorado School of Mines is seeking a skilled Structural Trades II professional to join our Facilities Management team. This position plays an essential role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of our campus by performing advanced building maintenance, repairs, renovations, and preventative maintenance activities across a wide variety of facilities.

About the Team

The Structural Trades team is responsible for maintaining and improving campus facilities through a combination of preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, and special projects. Team members work closely with supervisors, contractors, vendors, and fellow trades professionals to address building needs and enhance the campus experience.

What You'll Do
Building Maintenance, Repairs & Preventative Maintenance (85%)

You'll perform skilled maintenance and repair work on a wide range of structural building systems and components, including:

  • Drywall installation, repair, finishing, and advanced painting techniques
  • Carpentry repairs including framing, trim work, shelving, cabinetry, and general building repairs
  • Installation of whiteboards, bulletin boards, signage, artwork, fixtures, and other building components
  • Flooring, wall, ceiling, door, and window repairs
  • Roofing, siding, gutter, masonry, concrete, and exterior building repairs
  • Weatherproofing and building envelope maintenance
  • Preventative maintenance inspections and corrective repairs
  • Renovation and special project support
  • Emergency response activities as needed
  • Minor furniture, appliance, and equipment repairs

This role requires the ability to independently diagnose facility issues, determine appropriate repair methods, select materials and equipment, and complete projects safely and efficiently.

Snow Removal & Campus Support (10%)

During winter weather events, you'll help ensure campus safety by:

  • Shoveling snow and clearing walkways
  • Applying ice melt appropriately
  • Operating snow blowers and other assigned equipment
  • Supporting campus operations and special assignments as needed

Work Order Documentation & Accountability (5%)

You'll accurately document:

  • Labor hours
  • Materials used
  • Completed work activities
  • Preventative maintenance tasks

Using the university's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
