Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your plumbing and mechanical maintenance skills while working in a supportive team environment? Facilities Management is seeking a Pipe/Mechanical Trades I - Plumbing to join our Plumbing Shop.
This position offers hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing critical campus plumbing systems while working alongside experienced Plumber II mechanics who will help you develop your technical knowledge and trade skills. For individuals interested in building a long‑term career in the plumbing industry, this role provides a strong foundation and a potential pathway to advancement into a PMT II Plumber position.
What You'll DoAs a PMT I, you will support the maintenance and operation of campus plumbing systems through preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and facility support activities.
Primary Responsibilities Perform Preventative Maintenance (90%)- Complete preventative maintenance activities on plumbing systems and equipment
- Monitor and maintain swimming pool operations and water quality
- Repair plumbing leaks, drips, clogs, and related issues
- Replace water filters and maintain domestic water tempering valves
- Assist with inventory control and equipment documentation
- Inspect equipment and report unusual conditions or potential failures
- Maintain clean and organized mechanical spaces and equipment rooms
- Complete work orders, preventative maintenance documentation, and labor reporting
- Use Microsoft Office applications to document work and maintain records
- Work alongside Plumber II mechanics on repair and replacement projects
- Assist with water heater repairs, drain cleaning, pipe fitting, and fixture installations
- Support troubleshooting and repairs involving plumbing, pool, steam, and mechanical systems
- Assist with fire sprinkler system inspections and repairs
- Learn industry best practices and develop technical trade skills through hands‑on experience
- Learn from experienced plumbing professionals
- Gain valuable hands‑on experience in a skilled trade
- Work in a positive and collaborative team environment
- Build a pathway toward a future PMT II Plumber role
