Jeffco Division of Children, Youth, Families, and Adult Protection (CYFAP) is a consensus based/collective decision‑making organization with the majority of decisions and plans related to enhancements of our practice and work culture being made in committees. Just as we want to hear the voices of all CYFAP staff through their participation in committees, we want to hear the voices of individuals with lived experience as we make practice and policy decisions.
Individuals with lived experience in child welfare as a parent, youth or both will become active and equal members of the CYFAP Steering Committee to bring their voice, experience and passion to actively help CYFAP to continue to change our child welfare system to better meet the needs and enhance outcomes of children, youth and families, and to reduce/eliminate disproportionality and disparity for how marginalized families experience child welfare in Jefferson County.
This is a temporary non‑exempt hourly position that operates within our 4‑day work week (Monday‑Thursday), working a maximum of 10 hours each month in‑person, virtually or a combination of both.

- Prepare for CYFAP Steering meetings by reviewing the agenda and any documents before the meeting.
- If needed, meet with CYFAP staff before the CYFAP Steering to have a better understanding of any proposed policy and practice documents to more fully engage in Steering discussions.
- If needed, meet with CYFAP staff after the CYFAP Steering to discuss any worries about the meeting and/or their experience.
- If appropriate, participate in a Workstream or Committee to participate in the development of a policy or procedure.
Research shows that women and other underrepresented and historically marginalized groups tend to apply only when they check every box in the posting. If you are reading this and hesitating to click “apply” for that reason, we encourage you to go for it! A true passion and excitement for making an impact is just as important as work experience.
