Job OverviewThe Pretrial Case Manager supports adult defendants released from jail on bond by supervising, monitoring, and providing resources to help them navigate the pretrial process. The role is full-time, hybrid, and requires a commitment to community safety and client engagement.
Responsibilities- Maintain regular contact with defendants via telephone, in writing, or in person to monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions.
- Interview defendants, prepare supervision plans, and explain court orders and supervision requirements.
- Collect and process pretrial supervision fees and explain electronic monitoring equipment and related procedures.
- Refer defendants to community-based agencies for supportive services, substance use testing, and monitored sobriety or treatment services.
- Notify courts, attorneys, and other stakeholders of changes in defendant status.
- Determine travel permissions, implement necessary restrictions, and coordinate with fugitive partnership groups to locate missing defendants.
- Initiate court proceedings to modify or revoke bond for noncompliance, attend court appearances as needed, and place pretrial holds with the Sheriff’s Office.
- Analyze community agency reports and assess sanctions to ensure defendant compliance.
- Serve as a rotating case manager for GPS‑monitored cases, manage alerts, and resolve monitoring equipment issues.
- Conduct research and compile data for special projects or reports, meeting deadlines.
- Serve mandatory protection orders when requested by courts.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- Interact with diverse populations from all walks of life.
- Assist defendants in navigating court processes during their case duration.
- Explain policies, procedures, and available resources.
- Monitor defendant compliance with court‑ordered conditions.
- Use motivational interviewing to develop goal‑achievement plans.
- Identify and remove barriers to meeting court requirements.
- Refer defendants to community resources.
- Respond to violations, take corrective action, or request bond revocation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, social sciences, or a related field.
- One year of work‑related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience also acceptable.
Preferred Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Spanish speaking (desired but not required).
- Prior pretrial case management experience.
- Managing multiple projects or priorities.
- Providing customer service to clients during vulnerable times.
- One‑on‑one client or customer interactions.
- Data entry and documentation for compliance.
- Case management.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines, rules, and statutes.
- Interviewing or investigative experience.
- Position within the criminal justice field.
- Passing a polygraph test is required prior to offer.
- Criminal history and MVR background checks are required for every position.
- Offer contingent upon successful completion of criminal history, motor vehicle report, education verification, and/or references.
- A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that require driving on County business; new hires must obtain a Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
