Job Summary

The Heavy Civil Foreman oversees daily operations at construction sites, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and according to safety and quality standards. This role requires a hands‑on leader with expertise in heavy civil construction, including earthwork, grading, utilities, and structural concrete. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, ensuring the crew operates efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Leadership
    • Direct and oversee field crews, subcontractors, and equipment operators on‑site.
    • Assign tasks and ensure workers understand their responsibilities and deadlines.
    • Provide mentorship and training to team members to enhance skill levels and performance.
  • Project Execution
    • Coordinate and execute daily work plans in alignment with project schedules and specifications.
    • Ensure all construction activities comply with project designs, specifications, and applicable regulations.
    • Troubleshoot problems and implement solutions to minimize delays or disruptions.
  • Safety Management
    • Enforce site safety protocols to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Quality Control
    • Monitor work quality to ensure it meets project standards and requirements.
  • Resource Management
    • Manage materials, tools, and equipment to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
    • Coordinate equipment usage and maintenance to avoid downtime.
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Maintain clear and regular communication with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders.
    • Prepare and submit daily progress reports, timecards, and material usage logs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in construction management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with GPS base stations and equipment control.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.
  • Familiarity with construction techniques, materials, and processes related to earthwork, utilities, grading, paving, and concrete.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; CDL is a plus.
  • Certifications in OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or other relevant areas are highly desirable.
