Summary
This full-time position is responsible for performing various labor duties around the job site, as needed.
Skills & Qualifications- 1+ years of experience in construction.
- Job knowledge and ability to attain required certifications.
- Fit for duty.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and calling for repairs.
- Update job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
- Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
- Prepare work by studying and clarifying instructions and diagrams; calculating requirements; gathering supplies.
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, position or move loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
- Safely move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other material using articulated dump trucks.
- Accomplish operations and organizational mission by completing related results as needed.
- Assist with physical labor at construction sites.
- Operate hand and power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment.
- Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones with appropriate training.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
- Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble or other waste materials.
- Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools while distributing them to the appropriate locations.
