Construction Safety Manager

We are seeking an EHS Coordinator to support construction activities in Goldsboro, NC. This field-driven role is responsible for overseeing and reinforcing safety across active construction work. The EHS Coordinator will primarily focus on field oversight, hazard identification, and compliance, ensuring safe execution of work involving structural steel, concrete, MEP systems, and elevated activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong on-site presence to monitor daily construction activities.
  • Conduct routine site walks, safety inspections, and hazard assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, site safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Monitor high-risk activities, including structural steel erection, concrete operations, MEP installation, and elevated work such as lifts, fall protection, and scaffolding.
  • Review and reinforce site-specific safety plans, AHAs, and JHAs.
  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to approved safety procedures.
  • Participate in and support toolbox talks, safety meetings, and orientations.
  • Promote consistent PPE use and safe work practices across all trades.
  • Proactively identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and drive corrective actions.
  • Assist with incident, near-miss, and safety observation reporting.
  • Support incident investigations and help track corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors.
  • Serve as a point of contact for jobsite safety questions and concerns.
  • Help reinforce a proactive, accountability-driven safety culture.
  • Review safety documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain daily logs, inspection reports, and safety tracking documentation.
  • Ensure compliance-related records are current and properly maintained.

Essential Skills

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • 2–5+ years of construction safety or field experience.
  • Experience supporting ground-up or addition projects.
  • Working knowledge of steel, concrete, MEP, and elevated work safety requirements.
  • Ability to be on-site the majority of the time (80%+).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 510, CHST, STS, First Aid/CPR.
  • Experience on industrial or large commercial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with fall protection, confined space, and lift operations.

Work Environment

This role requires a strong field presence with a hands-on approach, and the ability to hold subcontractors accountable. It involves clear communication and relationship-building across teams. The position is proactive, focusing on hazard prevention and requires the individual to be on-site for the majority of the time.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Goldsboro, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
