Description of Work

Performs technical duties and fieldwork related to the inspection, maintenance, and operation of state-maintained roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure. Work involves assisting higher-level technicians, engineers, and supervisors in a variety of highway maintenance and construction activities.
Performs basic technical inspection work and basic surveying to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and standards for highway construction projects administered by the NCDOT. Work involves on-site inspection, documentation, material testing, and quantity measurements of construction activities to ensure workmanship, materials, and methods comply with state and federal requirements.
Additional Expectations:
Safety toe footwear is needed. Employees will be subject to outside extreme environmental conditions, in addition to hazards at highway construction sites, including heavy equipment and highway traffic.

Salary Grade: NC04 Salary Range: $32,287 - $56,502
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Experience using a computer or ipad
- Data entry experience
- Ability to read and interpret sketches, drawings and written technical documents, such as structure plans and inspection reports, to obtain pertinent structure information
Minimum Education and Experience
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
