The role delivers patient care using the nursing process, supports patient education, performs patient assessment and care planning, and coordinates with the interdisciplinary team to promote continuity of care.

• Provides patient care for complex problems with population‑appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
• Performs bedside point‑of‑care testing as required for the patient care plan.
• Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs, and consults appropriate resources in a timely fashion for complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and/or discharge planning needs.
• Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care and synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole prior to communication.
• Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care, including identifying and addressing cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.
• Reads journals for studies or articles applicable to practice and brings relevant ideas/questions to the staff.

Schedule:

Nights, 12‑hour shift; minimum 36 hours per week.

• Required Qualifications:
  
  Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing;
  Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina;
  Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC));
  Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience;
  Demonstrated proficiency in Nursing, Patient Care, Patient Education, Patient Assessment, and Care Planning.
