Clinical Nurse Job Summary

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

• Participates in identifying and addressing personal learning needs.
• Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
• Utilizes appropriate patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
• Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers.
• Evaluates the developmental level of the patient and factors impacting their ability to learn.

• Identifies expected patient outcomes.
• Seeks guidance as needed to revise the plan of care.
• Engages in discussions with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.
• Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.

• Demonstrates competence in the care of patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
• Performs bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan.
• Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care.
• Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
• Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues or high discharge planning needs.

• With assistance, develops goals for professional growth or minimizing limitations.

• Begins to leverage a full range of communication methods to convey planning.
• Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues when planning patient care.
• Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex issues.

• Reads relevant journals containing studies or articles applicable to practice.
• Shares ideas and questions with staff for assessment of applicability.

• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
• At least two (2) years of Med Surge/Tele experience.
• Previous neuro experience is required.
• Remote Tele experience is highly preferred.

• Required:
  
  Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing.

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
