The team is a leading developer of satellite mechanisms, deployable structures, and booms for the global space market, working on missions with NASA, the Department of Defense, and commercial space companies.

This role reports to the Design Engineering Group Manager and works on 3D modeling and drawing generation for various space flight programs.

• Create 3D solid models using Solid Works CAD software for new and existing space flight programs.
• Apply engineering principles to ensure designed components and systems meet all requirements.
• Create, maintain, and release component, assembly, and layout drawings compliant with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards; utilize Solid Works PDM to maintain configuration control.
• Lead the design and development of deployable solar arrays.
• Interface with multidisciplinary team members to optimize component and system designs that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Perform research and development, iterate on design concepts, correlate engineering models, and develop manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Generate technical documentation, reporting, and presentations of design, test, and analysis results.

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field;
  Master’s preferred.
• Experience designing, manufacturing, and verifying electromechanical systems, photovoltaics, and composite structures.
• Proficiency with large assemblies, PDM, and ERP systems in Solid Works.
• Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance analysis.
• Ability to travel 10‑15% of the time, including local and occasional overnight travel.
• US Citizenship required; ability to obtain a DOD security clearance.

• 3+ years’ experience in the space industry, especially with deployable solar arrays and coilable booms.
• Self‑motivated application of mechanical/aerospace engineering principles to independent assignments.
• Experience with GSFC‑STD‑7000A (GEVS), AIAA S‑114‑2005, NASA‑STD‑5017, MMPDS, and aerospace guidelines.
• Experience with Thermal Desktop, NASTRAN, or ANSYS is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
• Strong attention to detail and advanced verbal and written communication skills.
