Position Overview

Raytheon Vision Systems is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to work onsite in Goleta, CA for electronics product development for defense applications. The role includes electronics design engineering for design, analysis, validation, test, and support of digital and analog circuits for RVS subsystems. Occasional travel (5–10%) may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Advanced digital interface design, and FPGA-based circuit designs, including high speed digital design, DAC and ADC interfaces, DDR3/4/5 interfaces, various Ethernet copper and optical interfaces. Low power bias power conversion circuitry, and some medium power power conversion circuitry design conversion circuit designs.
  • Program level design support. The role may include REA (Responsible Engineering Authority) oversight, will include some RVS program level bidding and proposal development.
  • Schematic generation, component parts selection, and component specification generation.
  • Circuit card layout using ECAD design and layout tools required, and layout design verification tools.
  • Design to applications that will/may have Mil-Std-461 EMI/EMC requirements imposed.
  • On-site laboratory product development, manufacturing support, and system integration test support, including generation of acceptance test procedure.
  • Worst case circuit analysis and derating, design obsolescence, failure investigations.
  • Supplier support, including generation of high speed interface circuit and component specification control drawings, with review of supplier manufacturing and design processes, and support to supplier qualification.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience successfully leading program development for commercial, defense, and/or space industries to complete designs on schedule and within allocated budget.
Experience in any combination of the following
  • Digital and interface circuit designs for FPGA-based and mixed signal designs, using design analysis using timing analysis methods.
  • Power conversion designs for airborne and space applications; DCDC, ACDC, with verification testing, for designs ranging to 100 watts.
  • Circuit development design tools: SPICE, schematic/layout design software, Matlab, ADS.
  • Experience with schematic capture, block diagrams, and parts lists for complex electronics.
  • Signal integrity and Power Integrity (SIPI) analysis via tools such as Hyperlynx simulation for SIPI.
  • Electronic products testing experience using the following:
    Bench power supplies, signal/waveform generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, power supply stability testers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and debugging tools.
Qualifications (Preferred)
  • Experience in all phases of the engineering lifecycle.
  • Digital FPGA-based circuit design (AMD, Intel, Micro Chip, Lattice), as well as ADCs, DACs, and supporting digital/analog interface components.
  • Electrical design and analysis with Altium, Mentor Graphics XPedition, band Hyper Lynx/ Hyperlynx PI, SiMetrix, LTSPICE.
  • Design of CCAs with power conversion integrated circuits.
  • Demonstrated skills and success in handling a fast paced and dynamic product development environment.
  • Proficiency with Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis (SIPI).
Compensation

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD.
