Job Summary

Raytheon’s Advanced Programs is seeking an Engineer II, Systems Engineer specializing in Electronic Warfare (EW) to join our team. This onsite role in Goleta, California will lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of electronic warfare systems. The position requires a background in systems engineering and experience with EW systems development and implementation processes.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Systems Engineering focal point for the program.
  • Manage configuration process, perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Partner with the Program Chief Engineer or Lead Systems Engineer to align the engineering team to cost and schedule.
  • Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary program teams.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to systems engineering processes throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and test plans.
  • Coordinate system engineering activities, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, and testing.
  • Conduct system‑level trade studies and performance analysis.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and customer presentations.
  • Support program management with technical risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform architectural exploration and decompose customer specifications and system‑level requirements into sub‑systems and piece‑part requirements, generating verification criteria and plans.
Qualifications – Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (preferably Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Physics).
  • 2+ years of relevant systems engineering experience with EW/Radar system development, including requirements decomposition, architecture definition, and system‑level integration & verification planning.
  • Experience developing systems engineering artifacts such as requirements, specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification/validation (V&V) plans.
  • Experience supporting system‑level technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and coordinating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of security and cybersecurity requirements relevant to government systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience writing, managing, and tracing system and subsystem requirements for EW/Radar systems throughout the lifecycle.
  • Defining system architectures, performance budgets, and interface definitions (RF, digital, and mixed‑signal).
  • Planning and overseeing development of special test equipment (STE) and system‑level test infrastructure.
  • Analyzing and modeling EW/Radar system performance, including RF chain, signal processing, and end‑to‑end behavior.
  • Knowledge of millimeter‑wave and microwave RF at the module and system levels.
  • Integrating mixed‑signal modules into higher‑level assemblies, including interface and configuration management.
  • Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes, including SysML and Cameo Enterprise Architecture.
  • Flight test or field test experience supporting system‑level evaluation and data analysis.
