Position: Staff Quality Engineer (QA Engineer, Lead)

Redwire’s Goleta facility is Made for the Mission, delivering advanced power generation technologies that enable spacecraft to operate reliably across every orbit and mission profile. With proprietary designs, deep technical expertise, and large‑scale production capabilities, the team develops solar array solutions tailored to each customer’s size, power, and orbital needs. At the heart of these offerings is Redwire’s patented Roll‑Out Solar Array (ROSA), an award‑winning system that uses composite booms and modular photovoltaic blankets to create compactly stowable, highly efficient solar arrays.

These mission‑proven power systems have supported successful deployments across LEO, GEO, and deep space missions, including the ISS, NASA’s IXPE mission, and NASA’s DART mission.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Quality Engineer to join our team in Goleta, CA, to ensure the highest standards of quality in our rollout solar array projects.

The Staff Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving product quality for our space technology projects. This position involves comprehensive quality assurance responsibilities, including program quality assurance, root cause analysis and corrective actions, and customer quality support and communications. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure the delivery of defect‑free products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently, as a member of a team, and to lead teams.
  • Collaborate with program managers, engineers, and manufacturing to develop and implement quality assurance plans and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and report on quality performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a STEM field and minimum of 8 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace or space technology industry, or 8+ years relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Proven experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Proficient in using quality management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR.
Desired Skills
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
  • Experience with aerospace technology, products, and processes.

Pay Range

$123,000 - $180,000
