Description
Lead Integrated Circuit Design Engineer for the Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC) design team at Lockheed Martin’s Santa Barbara Focal plane business. The team advances the state of the art in infrared imaging sensors by designing and developing innovative ROIC architectures.
What You Will Be Doing- Design analog, mixed‑signal, and digital circuit blocks for ROICs (e.g., CMOS pixel designs, ADCs, high‑speed transceiver circuits).
- Lead a team of integrated circuit designers to develop full‑chip ROIC systems.
- Coordinate with circuit layout designers, conduct lab testing and debugging of hardware, and present design‑review materials.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to support IR sensor system design.
- Manage projects, interface with customers, and present design‑review material.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience with 16+ years of professional experience; or 14+ years of professional experience with a related master’s degree.
- Expert authority in IC design discipline.
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative teamwork.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a secret clearance.
- Experience as an IC design or chip design lead.
- Experience with IC design in the Cadence Virtuoso tool suite.
- Top‑level ROIC design and circuit‑block experience.
- Analog circuit design of amplifiers, current mirrors, and bias circuits.
- Digital logic circuit design with custom logic blocks or RTL behavioral design.
- Mixed‑signal design of high‑speed digital blocks (memory, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, serial transmitters).
- Transistor‑level layout and mask design.
- Serial interface design (I2C and other standard command/control interfaces).
- Linux C‑shell scripting.
- Version control management (e.g., Git or Cliosoft).
- Project management and coordination of engineering teams over product life cycles.
- Understanding of IR sensor systems and components.
- Lab experience testing and troubleshooting CMOS circuits.
Location:
Santa Barbara, California. Part‑time remote telework is possible; schedule to be discussed during hiring.

Pay RateThe annual base salary range for this position (historically ranging from $164,300 to $327,635 depending on location) is competitive and reflects scope of responsibility, experience, and market factors.
