PGS Worldwide is seeking an Avionics Technician in Goleta, CA for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Avionics Technician will support low-rate manufacturing operations involving RF circuit testing, tuning, assembly, antenna measurements, and hardware fabrication. This onsite role requires avionics experience in an aerospace environment, the ability to read engineering drawings, RF test exposure, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of related avionics experience in an aerospace environment.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions written in English.
- Ability to read and follow engineering drawings.
- Experience performing manufacturing operations related to RF circuit testing, tuning, or assembly.
- Ability to use common hand tools.
- Ability to perform occasional soldering.
- Ability to use measurement tools such as calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
- Ability to report data and communicate with other employees and departments.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand or be on feet for extended periods during the workday.
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts based on manufacturing schedules.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Skills
- J-STD-001 soldering certification.
- Demonstrated mechanical ability.
- Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
- Experience with MATLAB.
- Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel.
- Experience with VNA testing.
- Experience with antenna pattern, gain, or VSWR measurements.
- Experience working in an anechoic chamber.
- Experience with ISO requirements, standards, or compliance.
- Strong initiative, adaptability, multitasking ability, and motivation for quality performance.
What You’ll Do
- Perform RF circuit testing, tuning, and assembly operations.
- Assemble hardware using hand tools and occasional soldering.
- Use calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, and related measurement tools during hardware fabrication.
- Perform transmission and reflection arch measurements using a vector network analyzer.
- Support in-process measurements for low-rate manufacturing operations.
- Perform antenna pattern and gain measurements within an anechoic chamber.
- Support antenna and RF network VSWR measurements.
- Read and follow manufacturing drawings, schematics, and shop planning.
- Report test and measurement data to internal teams.
- Interface with production, engineering, and other departments.
- Support continuous improvement and customer service excellence.
- Assist in maintaining shop appearance, cleanliness, and organization.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 9x80 A schedule.
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Onsite role.
- Flexible hours, overtime, or different shifts may be required based on manufacturing schedules.
- Minimal travel; less than 10%.
Pay
- $44.29/hour
