Job Overview
Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Test Engineer – Level 2 to join the Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit in Goleta, CA. The role is 100% onsite and requires presence during designated shifts.
Location & TravelGoleta, CA, with travel between Oxnard, CA and Goleta, CA.

- Design, develop, and implement test methods and equipment.
- Plan and arrange labor, schedules, and equipment for testing and evaluation of standard and special devices.
- Compile test data and define changes required in equipment, procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
- Conduct testing of all customer samples and special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
- Perform product testing, coordinating test planning, setup, execution, data reduction, test reporting, and post‑data processing.
- Integrate products with test tooling, software, equipment, and instrumentation.
- Support test data collection, post‑test data review, reporting, and verification of test requirements.
- Produce technical documentation and assist in technical writing.
- Participate and present in internal and external customer reviews.
- Leverage modern tools and methods to reduce cost and schedule of product testing.
- Accountable to the Operations Test Engineering Manager for meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost expectations of internal and external customers.
- Support working multiple shifts (7am–4:45pm, 2:30pm–midnight).
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of test experience.
- Master’s Degree in a STEM field with test experience.
- Experience troubleshooting test equipment, tooling, and harnesses.
- Experience with testing automation or lean manufacturing/testing methodologies.
- Demonstrated technical writing and/or procedure development skills.
- Ability to travel between the Oxnard and Goleta sites and support customers (approximately 10%).
- U.S. citizenship preferred.
- 3+ years of specific test engineering experience.
- Proficiency in test automation software such as LabVIEW.
- Proficiency in measuring and controlling electronic components (motors, actuators, sensors, load transducers, etc.).
- Experience in aerospace or aeronautical industry.
- Excellent presentation, oral, written, and listening skills.
- Self‑motivated, with ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently or in an integrated team and adapt to dynamic requirements.
- Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
Salary range: $83,400 – $125,200. Overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives may be applicable. Northrop Grumman offers comprehensive health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, paid time off, and a Total Rewards benefit package.
