Systems Engineer I – Goleta, CA

Raytheon (RTX) seeks a Systems Engineer I to join our Space and Air, Electronic Warfare & Signal Processing Department. The role is located onsite in Goleta, California and is for U.S. citizens only. The candidate must possess a current DoD Secret clearance (or be able to obtain one). The position supports the development of airborne and ground communication products that deliver secure, mission‑critical solutions to our customers.

• Collaborate with a high‑performing team to drive product development and secure, mission‑critical solutions.
• Contribute across all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, including trade studies, system architecture, requirements definition and allocation, traceability, integration, verification, and qualification.
• Partner with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure successful execution of key program milestones.
• Provide systems engineering support for bids and proposals, contributing to technical strategy and solution development.
• Perform daily tasks in a classified and controlled lab environment.
• Travel up to 10% as required.

• Systems Engineering Requirements, Integration, Validation and Verification skills.
• Technical experience and mentorship opportunities within Mission Systems.
• Collaboration with radio and security‑crypto specialists, customer base, and integrated product teams.
• Knowledge of security hardening for products across an evolving field.

• Typically requires a STEM degree and experience with the systems development process (requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, verification/validation, and transition to production).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (DoD Secret clearance preferred).
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Experience communicating between program stakeholders.
• Experience with engineering or modeling tools such as DOORS and Cameo, and programming languages such as Python or Rust.
