Full-Time English Instructor
River Parishes Community College is an open admission institution that partners with the communities and businesses of the river parishes region of Louisiana to provide workforce training, certificates, diplomas, and Associate Degrees. This is a 9-month, full-time position. Instructors may be assigned classes at any of the four River Parishes Community College campuses (Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St. Charles), as determined by student need and institutional demand. Teaching needs may include face-to-face/online and/or evening classes. Full-time faculty are expected to actively serve on campus committees, participate in campus activities, and participate in student advising and recruitment.
Minimum QualificationsQualifications:
- Master's degree in English, linguistics, or literature OR Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in creative writing, OR master's degree (in any discipline) with 18 graduate semester hours in English, linguistics, literature, or creative writing. Official transcripts must be submitted.
- Satisfactory background check – an offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Proficiencies in classroom technologies (podium computer, laptop, iPad, and SMART Board) and use of Canvas LMS
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse student populations.
The following constitutes an employment agreement between the college and faculty member and is contingent upon student enrollment and the authority provided by the Board of Supervisors for the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS). Faculty member agrees to fulfill the following responsibilities.
