English Academic Coach APPOINTMENT
Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon recommendation of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs

Employment Status:
Part-Time (Up to 28 hours per week)
The Part-Time English Academic Coach provides academic coaching, tutoring, and targeted intervention services to students enrolled in mathematics courses. The Academic Coach works collaboratively with mathematics faculty and Student Success Coaches to identify and support students experiencing academic challenges, improve course completion, and increase student success and retention. This position maintains an assigned caseload of students, monitors academic progress, provides individualized coaching and tutoring, and connects students with additional campus resources when appropriate.
The position is primarily based on the Gonzales Campus but may require travel to other RPCC campuses to meet student and institutional needs.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in English, English Education, or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching English at the secondary or postsecondary level.
- Demonstrated ability to explain English concepts to students with varying academic backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn institutional software systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between RPCC campuses as needed.
- Master's degree in English, English Education, or a related field.
- College-level English teaching experience.
- Experience tutoring developmental and college-level English.
- Experience working with diverse student populations in a community college setting.
- Experience utilizing student success technologies, learning management systems, or early alert software.
- Maintain an assigned caseload of English students requiring additional academic support.
- Monitor student performance, attendance, engagement, and academic progress throughout the semester.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in developmental and college-level English courses.
- Collaborate with mathematics faculty to identify students in need of academic intervention.
- Document all coaching sessions, tutoring appointments, student contacts, and intervention activities using institutional systems.
