Engineering Specialist / Project Engineer - Duration: 2 year contract
- Location: 420 Dowdy Dr Gonzales Louisiana 70737- on-site 5 days per week, some travel may be required
- Capital Project exp required
- TWIC card required
We are looking for a Project Engineer to lead assigned capital projects and manage engineering, design, and construction resources within a manufacturing plant environment.
What You'll Do- Lead assigned capital projects (standalone projects and projects within plant outages) and manage all engineering, design, and construction resources
- Develop estimates, funding documents, schedules, and ongoing forecasts for plant-executed projects within SAP
- Ensure all projects receive adequate process hazard reviews and ORIs, and ensure timely completion of recommendations
- Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs
- Provide field supervision and support during project execution
- Manage project safety, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and goals
- Maintain projects within budget and schedule constraints
- Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer
- Conduct Safety Kickoff Meetings with contractors and operations teams before project execution
- Confirm contractors are aware of and follow all client Safety Standards
- Clearly communicate safety goals: 0 Recordables, 0 First Aids
- Complete short-term contractor BSP forms daily during project execution
- Complete JSA reviews and fill out JSA Review forms daily during project execution
- Participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process with the operations team
- Lead daily morning safety/toolbox meetings with all crafts
- Report all incidents immediately
- Ensure all contractors on-site for project execution have submitted an Emergency Action Plan prior to mobilization
- Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages
- Attend and contribute to monthly Safety Meetings
Required:
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Strong leadership abilities
- Experience in manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, and capital projects
- Technical degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card, Security Passport, and pass refinery background checks (TWIC card must be current and valid for project completion)
- Familiarity with quality standards as outlined by client
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
- Must be able to communicate with customers and team members over the phone and in person
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the site to attend meetings or oversee projects
- Willingness to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, following strict fatigue management guidelines
- Travel required as much as 15-25% depending on the project
