Job Description

Radiology Tech 1 - Operating Room arranges patients for advanced radiological examinations in the surgical suite setting. Produces radiographs (x-rays)/images to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of medical problems, displays knowledge competency of aseptic technique, and possesses knowledge of principles of radiation safety in the OR setting. Uses pre-established imaging protocols and departmental policy to perform safe operation of imaging equipment and all functions of the job.

Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Initially may require instruction and guidance to accomplish the job and should develop into performing work under general supervision. Reports to Supervisor or Manager.

• Maintains a proper sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Process, review and evaluate images to determine if they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
• Position imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination.
• Provide assistance to physicians or other technologists in the performance of advanced procedures in the perioperative area.
• Operate digital picture archiving communications systems.
• Operate fluoroscope to aid physician to view and guide wire or catheter through blood vessels to area of interest.
• Operate mobile x-ray equipment in the operating room or at patient’s bedside, using radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
• Operate all aspects of C-Arm equipment.
• Determine patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians.

  Entry level, no experience needed
• Education:
  
  Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
• License or Certification required:
  American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R) or Registry Eligible Louisiana License or current LSRT temp license
• Basic Life Support, BLS - HCP
