Position: Registered Nurse FT Nights - OLOL Ascension Medicine Unit

Registered Nurse – Full‑Time Nights

Medicine Unit, Gonzales, LA.

We are hiring immediately for a full‑time RN and offering a $10,000 sign‑on bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Practice and Care Management:
    Performs psychosocial/physiologic assessments that integrate changing data, formulates a plan of care based on trends of similar patients, including patient education and discharge planning, tailors and prioritizes caring practice to individual needs including cultural, ethical and spiritual needs.
  • Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (treatment options, patient placement options, end‑of‑life options).
  • Responds to changes in patient’s needs and provides holistic care using independent clinical judgment.
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and families by modifying teaching strategies or content, integrating education during delivery of patient care, and collaborating to identify realistic desired outcomes.
  • Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care: determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems.
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflicts; seeks counsel for resolution.
  • Identifies variances from expected outcomes and evaluates patient outcomes with revisions to the plan of care.
  • Documents all patient care activities per documentation standards and assists the healthcare team with the documentation process.
  • Communicates and collaborates consistently with the health‑care team members, patients and families to maximize outcomes.
  • Appropriately delegates patient care activities and participates in staff assignments to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Maintains knowledge regarding unit initiatives and incorporates outcomes of team/committee work into practice.
  • Participates on unit teams, work groups or committees, anticipates needs and voluntarily assists others.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of unit‑based quality improvement initiatives, participates in quality improvement initiatives using standards, guidelines and pathways, and incorporates evidence‑based practice and research findings into nursing practice.
  • Acts as a clinical resource, mentor and preceptor, displays leadership behaviors in critical thinking, decision‑making, and problem solving, and ensures self‑development and lifelong learning.
Qualifications
  • One year of acute‑care nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Per license requirements.
  • Proficient in English (verbal and written), computer skills.
  • Current Louisiana State license as RN and BLS certification.
