Gooding Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate 8th Grade English Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading and writing in students while promoting critical thinking and effective communication skills. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages student growth and academic achievement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Teach a curriculum that includes literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary, promoting an understanding of language arts.
- Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and class participation, and provide constructive feedback to support improvement.
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns that may arise.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience and participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
- Support school-wide initiatives and participate in extracurricular activities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Valid teaching certification/license for middle school English education.
- Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum and best teaching practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
- Experience working with middle school students preferred.
- Proficiency in using technology to support teaching and learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational trends.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
