Job Summary

Gooding High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Physical Education Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and engaging environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices among students. This role will involve developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our high school students.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes physical fitness, motor skills, and healthy living.
• Create lesson plans that engage students in a variety of physical activities, including individual and team sports, fitness exercises, and recreational activities.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their physical and social development.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as sports teams and fitness clubs, to enhance student engagement in physical activities.
• Collaborate with other educators and school staff to integrate physical education into the overall educational experience.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student development and program initiatives.
• Stay updated on current trends and best practices in physical education and implement innovative teaching strategies.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education for high school levels.
• Proven experience in teaching physical education or coaching at the high school level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and health education principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to create a supportive and motivating learning environment for students of all skill levels.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful atmosphere that promotes diversity.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Must be able to pass a background check through the State Department of Education.
