Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Para Professional at Gooding High School. The ideal candidate will support students with diverse learning needs, providing assistance in academic, social, and behavioral development. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes the growth and success of all students.
Responsibilities- Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during classroom activities, ensuring they understand the material and stay engaged.
- Help students develop social skills and appropriate behavior in various settings, including the classroom, cafeteria, and during school events.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, reporting any significant changes to the supervising teacher.
- Support the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment to enhance student learning experiences.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a positive and effective learning environment.
- Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe and organized learning space.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in a special education setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and administrators.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software and assistive technology.
- Must pass background checks and any other required screenings as per school district policies.
