Description
The External Relations Director works under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for creating engaging relationships throughout our service area. The External Relations Director is responsible for three main areas:
1) Public Relations – partnership with community stakeholders,
2) Philanthropy – leading our fundraising efforts, and
3) Government Relations – advocating for policy and governmental partnerships. es served.
A. Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, business or related field preferred or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
B. Minimum 5 years professional work experience in fund development; healthcare setting preferred.
C. Experience in writing government proposals with a proven track record of successful outcomes.
D. Experience preparing technical project proposals or reports for funding groups or agencies.
E. Ability to respond quickly to new fundraising opportunities and to changing priorities.
F. Must be self-motivated, detail and deadline oriented, and possess the ability to “flow” with non-profit culture essential.
G. Must have the ability to work comfortably with a variety of program team members at various levels of the organization.
H. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and fundraising databases.
I. Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression.
J. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently with minimal to no supervision.
K. Excellent follow-through with projects and strong attention to detail.
L. Entrepreneurial – must be willing and able to take initiative and handle a multitude of tasks under the pressure of deadlines.
M. Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings as projects necessitate.
N. Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values (e.g. efficiency and financial responsibility, safety, partnership and service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust and respect).
O. Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.
