Job DescriptionThe Avionics Technician is responsible for building, inspecting, and maintaining complex electrical and avionics systems that enable aerospace vehicles and payloads to function reliably. This role involves hands‑on electronics assembly, system troubleshooting, inspections, and close collaboration with engineering teams to support development, integration, and launch operations.
Role Responsibilities- Build and inspect complex electrical systems that allow the craft to function.
- Assemble and install electrical components while maintaining detailed and accurate written documentation.
- Maintain and improve existing avionics systems through modifications, upgrades, and bug fixes.
- Support engineers with instrument development, troubleshooting, testing, and project execution.
- Provide technical support for payload integration activities and launch operations as needed.
- Perform inspections on work completed by other technicians using documented procedures, specifications, drawings, and engineering instructions.
- Follow standard manufacturing and quality processes, including engineering evaluation/change requests and the use of standard manufacturing data systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and workmanship standards throughout all phases of work.
- 3–5 years as an Avionics Technician or related experience; technician experience on aerospace vehicles strongly preferred.
- Associate (2‑year) degree in electronics or a related field, or equivalent training obtained through military service.
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform electronics assembly tasks, including soldering, crimping, coating, and circuit testing.
- Proficiency in soldering techniques, including solder cups, surface‑mount PDBs, and wire splicing.
- Familiarity with IPC standards is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
