About Spreetail

Spreetail propels brands to increase their ecommerce market share across the globe while improving their operational costs. Learn how we are building one of the fastest-growing ecommerce companies in history:

Work Your Way

We believe in empowering our employees to work in the way that suits them best through our Work Your Way approach. Each team member has the flexibility to choose where they work most effectively each week—whether that’s from home, a coffee shop, or the office. While flexibility is key, we also value the power of in‑person connection. That’s why we bring our corporate team together in Lincoln each quarter for a week of intentional collaboration, team building, community engagement, and our All‑Hands meeting.

It’s the best of both worlds: the freedom to work your way, with meaningful opportunities to connect and grow together.

Director of Trade Compliance (Licensed Customs Broker)

Spreetail is seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to join our team as a Director of Trade Compliance. In this role, you’ll drive our global trade compliance strategy, building scalable programs that reduce landed cost and streamline customs operations across borders. You’ll work cross‑functionally to embed compliance into every stage of the supply chain while influencing key business decisions through data and risk mitigation.

Success requires someone who acts with urgency, communicates with clarity, and embraces challenges as opportunities to raise the bar. If you're driven by results, lead with accountability, and want to leave a lasting impact—this is the role for you.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strong cross‑functional relationships by conducting 1:1s with Legal, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, and external partners to align on compliance priorities and business needs.
  • Quickly assess and document the current state of trade compliance by reviewing core materials, classification accuracy, and import/export activity, identifying key gaps and opportunities.
  • Drive immediate impact through early wins, including correcting record‑keeping errors, improving broker SOPs, and resolving classification discrepancies that drive cost.
  • Establish performance baselines by launching a draft KPI dashboard to measure classification accuracy, entry timeliness, and screening compliance.
  • Shape the long‑term compliance strategy by building a phased roadmap, designing targeted training, and presenting a savings‑aligned compliance plan to leadership.
Qualifications
  • Extensive trade compliance background, including classification, valuation, licensing, and audit processes, ideally in a high‑volume import/export environment.
  • Proven success leading cross‑functional compliance projects involving brokers, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders across legal, finance, and supply chain.
  • Strong analytical and systems expertise, including experience with ACE, AES, ECCN/HTS tools, and denied party screening software.
  • History of delivering cost savings through duty optimization strategies such as FTA use, duty drawback, First Sale for Export, and process improvements.
  • Executive communication skills with a track record of presenting risk assessments, dashboards, and strategic roadmaps to senior leadership.
Benefits
  • Flexibility to take care of yourself. Spreetail operates in a work culture that promotes results and encourages taking time off when needed. In addition to a generous vacation policy, we also offer paid time‑off for your wedding week, paid parental leave, and support for parents of growing families.
  • We celebrate accomplishments. Each year at Spreetail is a milestone with the opportunity to receive special gifts, swag store credit, or donations to a nonprofit of your choice. We also recognize people pursuing impacts with Spreetail Spotlight Awards.
  • We care about your health & wellness. Spreetail works hard to enhance the employee experience through benefit programs and perks that provide meaningful support. We offer affordable medical, dental and vision plans with coast‑to‑coast coverage. We also provide free telehealth and on‑demand mental health resources.
  • We create the opportunity to revolutionize your community. We encourage Spreetailers to give back and make a social impact, and we offer paid time off to do it.
