Behavior Intervention Specialist
Under the direction of the special education teacher, the behavior coach will provide assistance to children who are in a special education program.

- Calendar: 10 Months; 40 hrs/week
- Reports to: Alternative school teacher(s) and/or Alternative School Coordinator
- Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disabled/disordered students in a school, mental health, or hospital setting preferred.
- Knowledge of child development concepts and practices.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (offered at the district).
- First Aid and CPR training certification (offered at the district).
- Must be able to pass a background check upon employment.
- Work intensively with students who have been unable to function effectively in the classroom and immediately deal with individual student behavioral/emotional problems.
- Communicate reality‑based problem solving techniques to students.
- Complete and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Complete and maintain First Aid and CPR training certification.
- Assist in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally/emotionally and/or academically challenged students.
- Assist teachers in the classroom by interacting with students who are disruptive, off task, or exhibiting other emotional needs, which are interfering with the student's progress within the classroom.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of a variety of logs, reports, files, reviews, etc.
- Escort children to the bus, time‑out, the nurse's office, and across campus.
- Facilitate decision‑making and communication between students and teachers.
- Follow District Policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
