Summary:

Provide overall project management direction on a wide variety of environmental remediation projects with construction components. Project Managers are responsible for planning, managing, and delivering environmental projects that require deep knowledge of CERCLA, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, RCRA, and California environmental regulations. The role oversees technical work, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and serves as a primary client and regulatory agency point of contact to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with applicable laws and permits.

Working knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and California environmental laws and regulations, including how they are implemented by relevant agencies and experience with Federal contracting are requirements for this position.

The salary range for this position is $92,707-$168,228/year, please note this is a tiered position.

This position will require up to 65% of travel within the southwest United States region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Lead environmental projects from scoping through completion, including investigation, remediation, permitting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Review and approve detailed project/component-level plans (including QAPPs/Work Plans/Monitoring Reports/Investigation Reports/Human Health Risk Assessments/ and other CERCLA documents).
  • Manage and oversee projects, including managing subcontracting process and subcontractors’ activities, prepare technical evaluations on their engineering specialty, identify and recommend solutions to mitigate issues and problems encountered during various construction phases in accordance with project scope of work, acceptable construction code/practices, and Federal and State regulations.
  • Develop and define acceptance criteria for all project phases/key Close monitoring of critical milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure the project stays aligned with the strategic goals and delivers the planned/stated benefits
  • Provide engineering and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written documentation.
  • Collaborate with various groups within Ahtna and multiple client organizations
  • Identification analysis of all project risks and preparation for a risk response plan
  • Proactive communication of risks to concerned stakeholders
  • Identify and ensure the resolution of all project-level issues
  • Manage all communications between internal stakeholders, clients, and third parties
  • Align all the project components and groups to ensure project success
  • Supervise construction field staff and Work closely with site superintendents in executing a wide variety of construction activities, overseeing and conducting field quality control functions with field QC staff.
  • Foster a high-performance team environment where diversity is valued, and people are treated with respect and dignity. Applying innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Mentor and/or supervise junior staff
  • Ensure compliance with all quality, regulatory, and security processes
  • Preparing and reviewing proposals per RFP and bid documents, including estimating, budgets and bid reviews
  • Authoring and/or reviewing contract deliverables, including, but not limited to, product or technical submittals, work plans, safety plans, sampling and analysis plans, and reports.
  • Support field staff as necessary
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, , and their impact on project activities.

Level Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)

Level - I
  • Provide client assistance to program managers;
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget on small-sized projects (less than $500,000)
  • Maintain 1-2 areas of technical expertise
  • Technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Assist with small-sized task orders and project proposals
  • Technical mentoring
Level - II
