Code Compliance Officer – Goodyear, AZ – Full‑Time – Salary $28.35–$42.09 Hourly

Essential Functions
  • Inspect residential, commercial and industrial properties to enforce zoning, building, housing safety and environmental codes.
  • Issue notices to repair, negotiate solutions, and mobilize voluntary compliance with property owners, tenants and contractors.
  • Maintain administrative records, prepare inspection reports, and verify property ownership and case data.
  • Collaborate with City departments, state, county and federal agencies to investigate violations and promote compliance.
  • Prepare correspondence, staff reports and technical documents for court, elected officials and the public.
  • Represent the department at civic league meetings, neighborhood enhancement projects and inter‑departmental forums.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree may be considered).
  • Minimum one year of experience in code enforcement, building inspection, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Ability to interpret and enforce municipal codes, negotiate solutions, and document case activity.
Certifications & Requirements
  • American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE) certification in zoning or property maintenance (must be obtained within 12 months of hire).
  • Good knowledge of technical systems – Accela, Goodyear 311/ Q‑Alert and case‑tracking spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency in using the City’s code compliance case application and related software.
