This position provides general supervision, leadership and management of the Police Department’s Patrol or Investigations Divisions or is assigned to the Office of the Chief. Supervision is exercised over Police Sergeants, Police Officers, and civilian personnel. Assumes command of police activities on the scene of large incidents, civil disturbances, and other major emergencies or events. Work is performed under general orders received from a Deputy Chief of Police or other higher-ranking supervisor, and performance is reviewed through observation of results and evaluation of reports submitted.

• Active AZPOST certification in good standing
• 8 years of law enforcement experience working as a sworn officer with 3 years as a Police Sergeant
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (in lieu of a bachelor's degree, each applicant’s work experience will be considered upon completion of application)
• Strong grasp of Leadership Theory
• Humble, team-oriented individual with strong mentorship and problem-solving abilities
• Strong written and oral communication skills
