The Inventory Analyst is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy across manufacturing operations while driving data-driven improvements to inventory performance. This position partners closely with Materials, Supply Chain, Production, Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Finance, and Operations to ensure inventory levels appropriately support customer demand while minimizing excess inventory and operational waste.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, enjoys solving complex inventory challenges, and has experience working within ERP systems in a manufacturing environment. This individual will leverage data, reporting, and root cause analysis to improve inventory integrity, optimize stocking strategies, and support operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Inventory Analysis & Optimization- Analyze inventory levels, historical usage, demand trends, and production requirements to determine appropriate reorder points and safety stock levels.
- Monitor inventory performance metrics and recommend adjustments to optimize inventory investment while maintaining production continuity.
- Identify slow‑moving, excess, obsolete, and at‑risk inventory and develop corrective action plans.
- Evaluate inventory turnover and recommend strategies to improve inventory utilization.
- Conduct routine inventory audits, cycle count analysis, and physical inventory reconciliation.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
- Partner with warehouse and production teams to maintain accurate inventory transactions.
- Ensure inventory records accurately reflect on‑hand quantities, locations, lot numbers, serial numbers, and other inventory attributes.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze inventory dashboards and KPI reports.
- Prepare recurring inventory reports for leadership, highlighting trends, risks, shortages, and opportunities.
- Utilize data analytics to identify process improvements and support business decisions.
- Present inventory findings and recommendations to Operations and Supply Chain leadership.
- Utilize Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies to identify and eliminate recurring inventory issues.
- Analyze inventory‑related problems and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Recommend process improvements that reduce inventory errors, improve inventory visibility, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Utilize ERP systems and inventory management software to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Track inventory attributes including quantities, lot/batch numbers, serial numbers, expiration dates (where applicable), and inventory locations.
- Assist in developing and implementing inventory control policies and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain data integrity across inventory systems.
- Partner with Production, Planning, Materials, Purchasing, Warehouse, Manufacturing Engineering, Finance, and Quality teams.
- Support production scheduling by ensuring inventory availability.
- Address inventory‑related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay current on inventory management best practices, technologies, and industry trends.
- Recommend new tools, automation opportunities, and reporting capabilities that improve inventory visibility and efficiency.
