Position Summary

The Hydroexcavation Superintendent will lead field operations, oversee crew performance, manage equipment, and ensure that all hydroexcavation projects align with safety standards and client requirements. This position requires a hands‑on leader who can coordinate multiple projects, mentor teams, and drive operational success in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily hydroexcavation operations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and execute work plans to optimize crew efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement process improvements.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor hydroexcavation crews to maintain high performance and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate expectations, job details, and safety protocols.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new hydroexcavation team members.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and job site evaluations.
  • Ensure that all crew members are properly trained in hydroexcavation procedures and equipment operation.
  • Investigate and report any safety incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and servicing of hydroexcavation trucks and equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment logistics, repairs, and replacements to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding hydroexcavation services.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients and team members.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction.
  • Prepare job reports and documentation for internal and client use.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in hydroexcavation, excavation, utility work, or a related field.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and develop field crews in a high-performance environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of hydroexcavation equipment, techniques, and industry regulations.
  • Certifications: CDL Class A or B with tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift heavy equipment as needed.
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical and decision‑making skills to address on‑site challenges efficiently.
