The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of manufacturing operations within an assigned production area. This position oversees hourly production employees and is accountable for achieving production goals related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and possesses experience leading teams across fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, electrical integration, or systems manufacturing. This role partners closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, Maintenance, Materials, and Operations Leadership to remove barriers, improve throughput, and exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities Production Leadership- Lead daily production activities to safely achieve production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
- Supervise, coach, develop, and hold accountable a team of hourly manufacturing employees.
- Monitor labor utilization, staffing levels, and production priorities to maximize throughput.
- Coordinate shift startup meetings and communicate daily production objectives, safety expectations, and operational priorities.
- Ensure production activities are executed according to standardized work instructions and manufacturing processes.
- Escalate production constraints quickly and work cross‑functionally to minimize downtime.
- Promote a strong safety‑first culture through visible leadership and daily engagement on the manufacturing floor.
- Conduct regular safety observations, audits, and toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and environmental policies.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas utilizing 5S principles.
- Drive a "build it right the first time" culture throughout the production team.
- Ensure products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Partner closely with Quality to resolve non‑conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action methodologies to eliminate recurring issues.
- Reinforce quality ownership throughout all stages of production.
- Execute daily production plans while meeting KPI targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity.
- Monitor production metrics and implement improvements to increase efficiency.
- Identify bottlenecks and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve workflow and cycle times.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including waste reduction, standard work, visual management, and continuous flow.
- Drive improvements that increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), throughput, and labor efficiency.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and develop manufacturing employees.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and development planning.
- Promote employee engagement through recognition, communication, and accountability.
- Build a culture centered around teamwork, respect, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
- Support succession planning by identifying and developing future manufacturing leaders.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve manufacturing processes and implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with Planning and Supply Chain to prioritize work orders and material availability.
