MSC is hiring a CNC Cutter / Grinder in Goodyear, Arizona. This role focuses on regrinding, reconditioning, and manufacturing cutting tools to print, work order, and customer specifications.

Why This Role Exists

This position supports MSC's metalworking operations by helping ensure cutting tools are properly reconditioned, inspected, and returned to service. The CNC Cutter / Grinder plays an important role in maintaining tool quality, accuracy, and consistency for customers who depend on MSC for reliable metalworking solutions.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Regrind, recondition, and/or manufacture cutting tools according to instructions
  • Set up CNC grinding equipment and verify proper guarding before starting work
  • Read work orders, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts
  • Determine dimensions, tolerances, operation sequence, and setup requirements
  • Start and monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Adjust CNC programs or machine setups as needed
  • Navigate CNC software and make program adjustments to grind tools within print specifications
  • Inspect finished tools using precision measuring equipment
  • Document inspection results professionally
  • Return tooling to the proper location after completion
  • Maintain an organized and efficient work center
  • Support special projects and additional shop duties as needed

Tools, Equipment & Inspection

You will work with:

  • CNC cutter grinding equipment
  • CNC grinding software
  • Blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and sample parts
  • Precision measuring and inspection equipment
  • Standard machine shop tools and work holding equipment

What We're Looking For Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read and follow work order instructions
  • Ability to use test and measuring equipment
  • Ability to perform basic calculations
  • Ability to set up and operate various machine tools
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment
  • Ability to train others
  • Safety-minded, organized, and dependable

Preferred

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Experience inspecting tools to print
  • Experience documenting inspection results
  • CNC grinding, cutter grinding, or cutting tool reconditioning experience
  • Familiarity with metalworking tools and shop environments

Work Environment

This is a shop-based role, with approximately 95% of working time spent in the shop. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and maintain an organized work center. Occasional overtime may be required.

Pay Range: $20.19 - $29.03 per hour, based on experience
