Primary purpose of the position:

Performs tasks and provides technical and mechanical services to support the plant's production goals, overall business plans, and objectives as directed. Rebuilds, repairs, installs, modifies, and troubleshoots chemical-process and production-support equipment.

Essential Responsible Areas:

• Complies with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
• Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
• Receives, stores, and handles hazardous and non-hazardous acids, caustics, oils, and other process materials, keeping accurate records of all materials received and shipped.
• Monitors and adjusts wastewater systems and sludge removal for EPA compliance.
• Advises management of any violations of environmental procedures regarding the labeling, storage, or spills of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
• Performs troubleshooting on production and support equipment as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance on production and support equipment as required.
• Rebuilds, repairs, installs, and troubleshoots diaphragm pumps, centrifugal pumps, and chemical dosing/metering pumps.
• Performs piping installation, repair, modification, and maintenance for chemical-process and support systems.
• Fabricates components, brackets, supports, and other items to improve the safety, organization, accessibility, and functionality of assigned work areas.
• Conducts inspection of in-process materials, in-process product, and finished product.
• Responsible for replenishing supplies, materials, and parts required for assigned area.
• Performs record-keeping duties as required under the direction of management.
• Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer.
• Supplies and maintains required hand tools.
• May perform various lab chemical functions for assigned area.
• Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.

Professional & Education Qualification

• High School Diploma or education equivalent required.
• Job-related experience for 2 years minimum.
• Preferred job-related experience of 8 years minimum.

Skills:

• Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard chemical process techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
• Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
• Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
• Maintains an awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
• Thorough understanding of the operating principles of all assigned equipment.
• May require forklift license
