Overview
The Charge RN must be able to work under high pressure in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and non-verbal) to support organizational service goals, customer satisfaction, and a positive work environment. The nurse is conscientious, organized, and able to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon, patients, and staff. The Charge RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction and utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data, plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Position Summary
Responsibilities- Coordinate functions and activities related to a single departmental function and oversee a clinic unit.
- Coordinate scheduling efforts of the unit RNs and act as liaison to internal and external customers (e.g., pre-hospital providers, medical and nursing staff, hospital administration).
- Develop and implement plans/processes for meeting regulatory requirements; train and mentor staff.
- Maintain accountability for the quality of nursing services and ensure delivery of care in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to implement change and assist with management of the departmental budget.
- Ability to independently make decisions in high-stress situations.
- Supervises other members of the healthcare team.
- Minimum Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school.
- Preferred Education: BSN.
- Minimum Experience: Two years of relevant clinical nursing experience; for Level II EQ Only: a minimum of two years of current Level III NICU experience including neonatal ventilator support.
- Preferred Experience: Management experience with two years of supervisory responsibility; certification in a specialty area preferred.
- Required Certifications/Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona, CPR. ACLS as applicable by facility/department (ER, ICU, Endoscopy, Telemetry, Cardiac Cath Lab, L&D: ACLS required upon orientation completion). ER: PALS or ENPC required or must obtain within ninety days. PACU: ACLS required or must obtain within six months of hire; PALS preferred. Postpartum, Nursery, L&D: NRP required upon orientation completion.
Bariatrics:
Certification or specialized training. Wound Care:
Wound-Ostomy Certification or training. - Required Course/Training: L&D:
Advanced Fetal Monitoring or must obtain within six months of hire.
