Registered Nurse, Cellular Therapy Transplant Coordinator
Responsibilities- Coordinate evaluation process for pre‑transplant patients to ensure effective use of hospital and clinical resources.
- Coordinate and/or schedule appropriate pre‑transplant work‑up and pre‑donation work‑up for autologous donors (recipients), stem cell consenting, mobilization and collection, as directed by protocol and physician.
- Evaluate pre‑transplant testing, noting discrepancies between test results and eligibility criteria, and address results with physician.
- Act as authorized representative for CAR‑T manufacturer: manage hospital enrollment and certification, ensure staff training in REMS for each immune effector cell product, maintain REMS‑related processes and procedures in compliance, and manage manufacturer audits.
- Educate patients throughout the transplant continuum to assist understanding of processes and procedures surrounding pre‑ and post‑transplant issues, disease, treatment, management, and supportive care.
- Serve as a resource for nurses and other multidisciplinary team members on patient care issues to promote positive outcomes for transplant patients.
- Participate in or lead team conferences, rounds, or meetings related to the care of the transplant patient or program issues.
- Update and maintain the clinical database.
- Support and participate in the strategic plan of the COH Department of Nursing and Cellular Therapy Program.
- Complete necessary documentation according to CIBMTR guidelines, including pre‑ and post‑transplant follow‑up information.
- Collaborate with transplant financial coordinator and insurance case managers to provide data ensuring authorizations and timely financial review.
- Contact patients for follow‑up related to insurance coverage, pre‑transplant testing schedule, stem cell mobilization and collection, transplant, and education follow‑up.
- Document appropriately in the outpatient electronic medical record.
- Maintain continual communication with manager, director, physicians, and nurses to ensure comprehensive management of patient care.
- Work Monday‑Friday, 5‑day, 8‑hour shifts.
- At least 3 years of experience with stem cell transplant – allogeneic, autologous, and CAR‑T.
- Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License from a Compact State.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross; certification must be renewed every two years.
- Ability to complete an onsite initial BLS course within 30 days of hire if current certification does not meet guidelines.
- Background in Oncology/Hematology/Autologous Stem Cell Transplant.
