Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Renders individualized, age‑specific bedside nursing care based on the nursing process and patient needs. Supervises by assessing, planning, delegating and utilizing independent judgment to direct other healthcare employees for patient care. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice to identify patient goals. Participates in hourly rounding.
Observes safety guidelines and safe work practices. May be asked to be in charge for shifts.
- Assess the patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, cultural, safety/risk, and discharge planning needs on admission and ongoing basis.
- Determine nursing diagnosis based upon patient assessment and data analysis.
- Set practical, realistic patient‑specific outcome goals, utilizing patient and family input when appropriate and guiding patients in achieving goals.
- Individualize the plan of care based on patient needs and procedural complexities.
- Implement nursing and medical orders and ensure they are appropriate to the patient’s current status.
- Participate in hourly rounding and observe safety guidelines.
- Other tasks assigned at the hospital.

Minimum Requirements
- Education:
Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school. - License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona.
- CPR; ACLS as applicable by Facility/Department.
- L&D:
Advanced Fetal Monitoring within six months of hire (updated 12/09/09). - Level II EQ:
Minimum of two years Level III NICU experience including neonatal ventilator. - Certification requirements: include ACLS; PALS or ENPC for ER; NRP for post‑partum, nursery, L&D;
Bariatrics certification;
Wound‑Ostomy certification for wound care.
Preferred Requirements
- BSN.
- 1 year of acute care experience; certification in specialty area preferred.
- PACU: ACLS required or must obtain within six months; PALS preferred.
- ACLS if not already listed.
