Previous wound/ostomy nurse experience required; certification preferred.

New hire sign‑on bonus available.

Responsibilities

The RN’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served. The RN records patients' medical history and symptoms, helps perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and helps with patient follow‑up and rehabilitation.

The RN establishes a care plan or contributes to an existing plan. The plan may include activities such as administering medication, carefully checking dosages and avoiding interactions; starting, maintaining, and discontinuing intravenous (IV) lines for fluid, medication, blood, and blood products; administering therapies and treatments; observing the patient and recording observations; and consulting with physicians and other healthcare clinicians. The RN teaches patients and their families how to manage their illnesses or injuries, explain post‑treatment and home‑care needs;

diet, nutrition, and exercise programs; and self‑administration of medication and therapy. The RN provides direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides regarding patient care and delegates when appropriate. The RN supports efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills. The RN precepts new‑hire staff and students. The RN assists the staff and students in completing the tasks required to achieve competency skills.

The RN continues to enhance knowledge in nursing management and patient care as required. The RN may continue to improve the patient experience.

Essential Functions

Collect health data systematically, prioritizing data collection based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs and involving the family. Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and use the nursing diagnosis to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise an appropriate, family‑centered, developmental and age‑appropriate, culturally relevant plan of care. Identify individualized expected outcomes. Implement interventions in the plan of care, including treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on standing orders, policies and procedures.

Provide nursing care to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social‑cultural needs of patients and families. Evaluate progress toward outcomes, document observations, interventions, therapeutic measures, monitoring data, and other relevant data. Provide ongoing evaluation of quality and effectiveness of care plans. Evaluate one’s own nursing practice relative to professional standards, statutes, and regulations. Integrate ethical principles. Enhance knowledge of culture and diversity.

Collaborate with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams. Contribute to professional development. Identify evidence‑based changes and facilitate their adoption.

Education
  • Other / Certificate:
    All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5 or more years of Registered Nurse experience (direct or indirect) at the time of hire. (Required)
  • Associate or Diploma in Nursing:
    All staff with direct responsibility for stroke patients must refer to the addendum for stroke‑specific education requirements – prior to start. (Required)
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN):
    Preferred.
Experience
  • Other: >10 months in med‑surg or acute specialty setting. (Required)
  • 1 year RN experience for all float positions. (Required)
License and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Certification required. Unit‑specific certification as required by specialty area (DOP). (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – State or Compact State license as a registered nurse in Arizona upon hire. (Required)
  • National certification for unit‑specific patient population. (Preferred)
