ICU Nurse, RN Nurse
Job Overview
Full‑time, night shift, 72hrs p.p. Network Float Pool. Float to 3+ campuses. New hire sign‑on bonus available. Minimum 1 year RN experience for all float positions; at least 2 years ICU experience required.
ResponsibilitiesThe RN records patients’ medical history, performs diagnostic tests, operates medical equipment, administers treatments and medications, and assists with patient follow‑up and rehabilitation. The RN establishes or contributes to a care plan, which may include medication administration, IV line management, therapies, and patient monitoring. The RN teaches patients and families about illness management, home care, diet, and self‑medication. The RN directs licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, delegates tasks appropriately, and supports efforts to advance clinical knowledge.
The RN precepts new hire staff and students, helps them complete competency tasks, and continues to enhance knowledge in nursing management and patient care. The RN promotes a healthy work environment and applies evidence‑based nursing practices.
All RN staff who have direct responsibility for the care of stroke patients must:
- Know stroke symptoms and warning signs
- Understand protocols and pathways for identification, evaluation, and management
- Be familiar with NIHSS, stroke alert activation, and protocol
- Understand stroke quality indicators
- Use available stroke patient education materials and community resources
- Comply with educational requirements
- Utilize Stroke Center website resources
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Required:
- All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire date or have 10 years of RN experience (direct or indirect).
- Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing. For staff with direct responsibility for stroke care, refer to addendum for stroke‑specific education before starting.
- Graduate from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution.
- >10 months med‑surg or acute specialty setting.
- 1 year RN experience for all float positions.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and unit‑specific certification as required by specialty area.
- Registered Nurse (RN) state or compact state licensure in Arizona upon hire.
- National certification for unit‑specific patient population (preferred).
