Environmental Health and Safety Specialist with Industry Leader / $90,000-$120,000 per year depending on Experience / Great Benefits and Ability for Growth
Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 per year
A bit about us:We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to lead and support all aspects of environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment. This individual will play a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that protect employees, the facility, and the environment.

- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Obtain, maintain, and manage required environmental permits, including air, stormwater, wastewater, and waste management permits.
- Prepare and maintain OSHA logs, environmental reports, compliance documentation, and regulatory records.
- Serve as the site's technical resource for environmental, health, safety, and transportation compliance matters.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall safety and environmental performance.
- Manage the site's Industrial Hygiene Program, including monitoring and exposure assessments.
- Maintain EHS metrics, records, KPIs, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee chemical approvals, inventories, and hazardous material management.
- Coordinate and manage internal EHS audits, inspections, and compliance programs.
- Participate in equipment reviews, risk assessments, process changes, and capital improvement projects to ensure safe implementation.
- Lead the site safety committee and collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen safety initiatives.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries while identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Manage workers' compensation cases and return-to-work processes.
- Coordinate the selection, purchasing, and distribution of safety equipment and PPE.
- Develop and implement hazard control programs in partnership with corporate EHS leadership.
- Support fire protection systems, emergency preparedness, security systems, and regulatory inspections.
- Stay current on changing environmental and safety regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Support new hire onboarding and safety orientation programs.
- Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
- Develop and deliver environmental, health, and safety training for new and existing employees.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements where needed.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with all training requirements.
- Work with supervisors and managers to identify employee training needs.
- Participate in training reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare weekly reports summarizing training activities, compliance status, and upcoming training requirements.
- Support cross-functional projects related to employee safety and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience supporting EHS programs within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable environmental and safety regulations.
- Experience managing regulatory compliance programs, audits, investigations, and reporting.
- Ability to conduct safety training and effectively communicate with employees at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence safety culture, drive accountability, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
