Job Description Summary
The Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager in managing all day‑to‑day store operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Provides leadership, guidance, and training to store staff. In the absence of the Store Manager, assumes total responsibility for all store operations, aiming to meet or exceed sales, service, and operational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities- Primary responsibility is the safety and welfare of employees and customers.
- Create and maintain an excellent customer shopping experience, reinforcing service standards and providing training and leadership to staff. Manage customer issues promptly and satisfactorily.
- Process all POS terminal transactions in accordance with policy, including sales, discounts, refunds, loyalty, and opening/closing procedures.
- Handle inventory control responsibilities: shipping and receiving, price management (price changes, markdowns, etc.), singles, damaged merchandise, and conducting physical inventory.
- Oversee sales floor merchandising and visual presentation, ensuring merchandise placement, floor maintenance, housekeeping, promotional events, materials, and signage comply with company standards.
- Manage payroll control responsibilities: scheduling, payroll budget compliance, time and attendance.
- Train and develop direct reports, utilizing all available training tools and consistently reinforcing operational standards.
- Perform loss prevention duties, protecting and controlling all company assets.
- Work toward a complete understanding of managing all day‑to‑day operations.
Customers, Sales Associates, Store Management, District/Regional Managers, Store Operations, and Training Personnel.
Key Qualifications- Approved background check.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Managerial and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for customer and employee interactions.
- Strong visual merchandising skills.
- Working knowledge of footwear, accessories, and shoe care.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of corporate and store operations policies and procedures.
- Complete understanding of store presentation standards and visual merchandising.
