The Opportunity

A growing industrial automation business is looking for a commercially minded Sales Engineer to join its US team in Tempe, Arizona.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong technical aptitude with the ability to build relationships, develop new business and guide customers through complex automation projects.

You will work closely with manufacturers, integrators and industry partners to understand their production challenges, recommend appropriate automation solutions and support opportunities from initial enquiry through to successful project completion.

The role would suit someone from a background in technical sales, sales engineering, applications engineering, robotics or industrial automation who enjoys working directly with customers and helping solve real manufacturing problems.

Key Responsibilities Business Development & Customer Relationships
  • Develop new business opportunities across industrial and manufacturing markets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, integrators and industry partners
  • Identify customer pain points, operational challenges and application requirements
  • Develop existing accounts while proactively pursuing new business relationships
  • Follow up consistently on leads, quotations and active opportunities to drive projects toward closure
Technical Sales & Solution Development
  • Lead technical sales discussions with prospective and existing customers
  • Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate automation solutions
  • Conduct professional virtual and in-person meetings, presentations and product demonstrations
  • Translate technical product capabilities into clear commercial and operational benefits
  • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant robotics and automation technologies
Project & Internal Coordination
  • Guide opportunities from initial enquiry through the sales process and into project delivery
  • Work closely with engineering, service and product teams to support customer applications
  • Help coordinate technical requirements and customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage multiple active projects and priorities effectively
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity and pipeline information within the CRM
  • Track follow-up activity and ensure opportunities progress effectively through the sales process
  • Provide visibility on active projects, customer activity and future sales opportunities
Industry Representation
  • Represent the business at trade shows, industry events, customer visits and association meetings
  • Support demonstrations, installations and other customer-facing activities where required
  • Travel throughout the United States and internationally when necessary
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience in technical sales, industrial sales, sales engineering, applications engineering, automation, robotics or a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and manage a sales process effectively
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand industrial applications
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Confidence leading both virtual and in-person customer meetings
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage opportunities, customer relationships and follow-up activity
  • Engineering, technical or commercial background preferred
  • Self‑motivated with strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Willingness to travel throughout the United States and internationally when required
  • Ability to work onsite in Tempe, Arizona
