Summary

The Security Manager is responsible for leading the security function at our warehouse and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) facility. This role oversees security personnel, access control, surveillance, incident response, loss prevention, and compliance with company and FTZ security requirements.

The Security Manager also supports facility safety by identifying hazards, reinforcing established safety procedures, coordinating monthly safety committee meetings, and assisting with incident reviews and corrective actions. Security remains the primary focus of the position, with safety responsibilities serving as a practical extension of the role rather than a dedicated environmental health and safety function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, schedule, train, coach, and provide daily direction to Security Officers assigned to the facility.
  • Establish clear performance and conduct expectations and address attendance, documentation, behavior, and performance concerns.
  • Ensure adequate coverage at employee entrances, exits, checkpoints, and other critical security areas.
  • Conduct routine observations and audits to confirm Security Officers consistently follow established procedures.
  • Oversee access control procedures for employees, visitors, contractors, vendors, drivers, and other individuals entering or leaving the facility.
  • Ensure identification, badges, access cards, visitor logs, and restricted‑area procedures are properly managed and enforced.
  • Monitor and enforce security requirements related to the facility’s FTZ designation and applicable customs protocols.
  • Maintain control of keys, access credentials, restricted areas, and other security‑sensitive resources.
  • Oversee CCTV systems, alarms, access control systems, patrols, and other security equipment and activities.
  • Review surveillance footage and access records when investigating theft, property damage, unauthorized access, inventory loss, or suspicious activity.
  • Ensure routine inspections are completed throughout entrances, exits, docks, employee areas, parking areas, storage locations, and high‑value inventory areas.
  • Oversee personal property inspections and other loss‑prevention activities in accordance with company policy.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend practical improvements to reduce theft, unauthorized access, property damage, and other risks.
  • Lead or coordinate the response to security incidents, disturbances, injuries, alarms, emergencies, and potential threats.
  • Contact law enforcement, emergency medical services, the fire department, or other outside agencies when required.
  • Preserve relevant surveillance footage, access records, witness statements, documentation, and other evidence related to investigations.
  • Prepare and review accurate, complete, and timely incident reports.
  • Maintain security logs, visitor records, inspection records, training documentation, post orders, emergency contacts, and response procedures.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding incidents, staffing needs, recurring concerns, risks, and recommended improvements.
  • Support emergency planning, evacuation drills, severe weather procedures, fire response, and other facility preparedness activities.
  • Identify and report safety hazards observed during patrols, including blocked exits, spills, damaged equipment, unsafe pedestrian conditions, or other immediate concerns.
  • Take reasonable immediate action when a serious hazard is observed and notify the appropriate Operations, Human Resources, or Facilities personnel.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings with warehouse safety committee members, document concerns and action items, and follow up with responsible departments on completion.
  • Participate in reviews of workplace injuries, near misses, vehicle incidents, property damage, and other safety‑related events.
  • Help track corrective actions resulting from security or safety incidents and communicate unresolved concerns to facility leadership.
  • Reinforce established workplace safety rules and promote awareness of basic security and…
